Mapping “The East:” Envisioning Asia in the Age of Exploration showcased a selection of 16th-18th century maps of Asia produced by European cartographers, all borrowed from the collections of Sophia University in Tokyo and the University of San Francisco's Ricci Institute.
Mapping "The East" was co-curated by myself alongside Professor Catherine Lusheck and was part of a larger series of programs presented by the Ricci Institute focusing on East-West cultural exchange through cartography.
The exhibit ran for three months and was covered in several publications including SFWeekly and USF’s alumni news blog.

As co-curator, I was the principal researcher for the show, and developed the exhibition thesis, selected the maps from Sophia University’s archives (which were transported to San Francisco from Tokyo for the exhibition) for the show, conceptualized the layout for the show, and authored all exhibition content, which you can see below.
